19 year old Dillon started his career with Hull City. While at Hull, he played in many of their underage teams.
Hull City released the youngster at the end of the 2012/13 season, following their promotion to the English Premier League. In June 2013, Dillon signed for Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren.
Dillon has been capped at Republic of Ireland U19 and U17 levels.
Having failed to make a impact across the water, Dillon has now joined Mick Cooke's Athlone Town. He is Cooke's seventh new signing ahead of Athlone's first season in the Premier Division since 1995/96.
