St. Patrick's Athletic have announced the signing of Irish International Keith Fahey.

Fahey is no stranger to St. Pats, having already had two stints with the Inchicore club making 191 appearances and scoring 31 goals.

Fahey started his League of Ireland career with St. Patrick's Athletic in 2003, before moving to County Louth to join Drogheda United in 2005. A year later, he returned to Pats, spending a further three seasons with the Dublin side.

In 2009, Fahey moved across the water to Championship side Birmingham City. He made his debut on the 19th January that year, coming on as a late substitute in a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City. He won promotion to the Premier League that year with Birmingham City, with the Blues finishing in second place.

The next season, Fahey played his first Premier League game in a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in Old Trafford. He made 34 appearances that season, though failed to score.

Fahey made is Ireland debut against Paraguay in a friendly at the RDS in May 2010. Fahey has play a further 15 times for the Republic of Ireland, scoring 3 goals in that time.

The 2010-11 Season was a roller-coaster for Fahey. He was in the starting XI for the 2011 League Cup Final against Arsenal, which Birmingham won 2-1 and thus, qualified for the Europa League. However, at the end of the season, Birmingham were relegated back to the Championship on the last day of the season.

Fahey played a further two seasons with the West Midlands side under Chris Houghton and Lee Clark. In June 2013, Fahey announced he had left the club, as they had decided not to take up the option to renew his contract.

In October 2013, Fahey begin training with Sheffield United.

Fahey is the sixth close season signing made by Liam Buckey for the 2014 League of Ireland Season.
